Shine The Light Initiative is a non-profit organization, founded by Winnipeg dentist, Brent Wong and his wife Wendy. STLi not only brings dental aid but medical aid, education and home building programs to impoverished communities. Since 2004 they have completed more than 51 missions trips around the world.

Dr. Brent Wong is the owner and principal dentist of Shine Dental in Winnipeg Manitoba. In 2003, he went on his first missions trip to two countries in Africa: Mozambique and Zambia. That same year, Wendy journeyed to New Zealand on her first missions trip and afterwards they both realized they both wanted missions work to be part of their lives.  They also realized they wanted each other in their lives, and were married in 2005. They realized that other people wanted to help but felt it was out of their reach.   As a result, they started Shine The Light in 2005 to bridge the gap between the people who wanted to help and those that needed it the most.
